Hot Springs Kiwanians Present Dictionaries

Dear Kiwanis Club, 

Thank you for the Awsome dictionaries!  There are many cool things in them.  My favorite is the information about the presidents.  I've learned so much about them already! My second favorite is the Declaration of Independance.  Thanks again!

This is just one of many letters the Kiwanis Club of the Black Hills, Hot Springs, received from third grade students in Fall River County.  The Hot Springs Kiwanis Club presented dictionaries to third grade students in the Hot Springs,   Oelrichs,  and Oral public schools as well as the Bethesda Lutheran school in Hot Springs.  In all 92 dictionaries were given out.

The Children and Youth Committee of the Hot Springs Kiwanis Club presented this project at one of their regular meetings, and with the full support of the club, they ordered the dictionaries, contacted the schools, and presented the dictionaries to the students with gratifying results.


Black Hawk Kiwanis serves Pancakes to 1000's of Bikers
The Black Hawk South Dakota Kiwanis Club completed their annual fund raiser in August 2005 by serving pancakes to severakl thousand Harley Davidson riders on their way to Sturgis, South Dakota to the largest motorcycle rally un the nation.

Black Hawk Kiwanis Consignment Sale
The Black Hawk Kiwanis Club held their annual Consignment sale of childrens clothing as a fund raiser for distribution of dictionaries for the 3rd grade students in Black hawk, Piedmont, Box Elder and Zion Lutheran School in Rapid City. Over 400 dictionaries were purchased and distributed.  Dates were 15, 16 and 17 Sept 2005.

Free Pancake Feed

The Black Hawk Kiwanis Club provided a free Pancake and sausage feed for the residents of Piedmont and Black Hawk as a thank you for their support through out the year.


Long-Time Kiwanis Secretary Dies in Rapid City
   When you spend 51 years helping Kiwanis --- you are remembered -- and that is the case for 94 year old "Shine" Lingard of Rapid City.

SOUTH DAKOTA KIWANIS CLUBS MEET FOR 1ST TIME THIS CENTURY

   Included on the website is the registration form for the South Dakota Kiwanis conference at Chamberlain on November 4th. Its the first time this century Region 4 and Region 5 clubs have met and includes a day that allows clubs to share their ideas and listen to other clubs. A key part of the program will be an address by Governor Coralyn Dahl ---- Governor Elect Bill Daugherty, an idea that brings Dental Bus Care to communities around South Dakota, as well as information from our Tag Team Members, the new Diversity Club in South Dakota and much more.

   Please fill out the brochure and return your registration to Randy Hohn at the address shown on the form.

Kiwanis Brings Ambassador to Rapid City
  Former US Ambassador to the Philippines and Japan --Michael Armacost is presented Black Hills Gold from Jim Kessel, President of the Kiwanis-Mary Hall Park Committee following presentation this fall.
