There are 5 Kiwanis Clubs in Sioux Falls that meet each week -- but for the last few years the clubs have not exchanged ideas regularly. Now that's changing. |

Kiwanian Otto Sckerl receives a 50-year membership pin from his wife Hazelle at the De Smet Kiwanis Club 50th anniversary celebration in November 2003. Sckerl also received the Kiwanis Legion of Honor award. He is a charter member of the De Smet club, and he is the only living charter member who is still an active member. “I appreciate being recognized,” Sckerl said, but it was no chore to be a member for 50 years because it was fun.” Forty-one men formed the De Smet club in 1953. There are eight living charter members—Floyd Abrahamson, Boyd Haufle, Robert Jensen, Lloyd “Tex” Myers, Alan Purintun, Otto Sckerl, Don Torgerson and Maurice Wika. |

 First it was Mankato -- talk of Rochester --- and now Sioux Falls is working on a "Diversity" club. The new Kiwanis energy in the Diversity circle --- plus new clubs formed -- making Kiwanis projects something that will be talked about in our communities -- and watched by leadership in three states and International Circles. |

The date was May 31, 1921. 118 charter members with the help of the Sioux Falls Kiwanis Club -- formed the Mitchell Kiwanis Club. Little did those 10 dozen or so men know the good that would be done in the next 85 years. |

The Downtown Club has moved it's meeting place from the Westward Ho Country Club to the Downtown Hoilday Inn located at 8th Street and Phillips Ave. They meet at Noon on Wednesdays. |

The Sioux Falls Downtown Kiwanis Club is returning to their prior home begining with their Feb 2nd meeting. They will once again be using the Westward Ho Country Club for their weekly meetings. |

The Region 5 annual meeting with the Governor is set for February 26th in Sioux Falls. Each of the Kiwanis Clubs is being asked by Lt Governor Bill Daugherty to have at least one member present. |
