Love Kiwanis Style
3/2/2010 - Club: Vikingland, Moorhead - Submitted by: Vikingland Kiwanis

I know people fall in love and get married every day, so that's normally not big Kiwanis news.  But when was the last time that a Past President (Roger Willers), falls in love with the new President (Carlene Paulson).  I would guess not very often.  Their wedding is set for April 10th.  Please help in wishing them all the best.  At Vikingland great events are celebrated with a poem.

At Vikingland Kiwanis

We try new things most every year

We aren’t afraid to pave new roads

We never had a speck of fear.

In past years you’ll remember

We proved our unique worth

By convincing one of our members

It’d be cool to just give birth.

So, how do you top that effort

Many notions we’d have to carry

Why, let’s convince 2 of our members

It’d be cool if they’d decide to marry.

But who could we find to do it

To meet, have fun and to mingle

And of course, one important factor

They’d first off have to be single.

The Willers guy– works at Eide Bailey

A past president, he talks the most

He dresses kind of funky

And he’s skinny as a fence post.

But who’d be interested in Roger?

And, YES, it has to be a girl

She’d have to be a good sport

To give this plan a whirl.

She needs to be exceptional

Smart and witty, a sight to be seen

Why, we have just the member

The Paulson girl, named Carlene.

But how do we get them together

A club gathering, we could mention

So off we sent them together

To the Nashville Kiwanis convention.

Hands off, we can’t do everything

Just let nature run its course

We’ve done all we can do

Bad things happen when we force

Soon an announcement at a meeting

It sounded a little sappy

A wedding joyfully announced

With a dollar said to be happy.

This marriage will be a great one

And you can take that to the bank

Love is said to be the reason

But it’s us Kiwanians you can thank

So here’s to Mr. & Mrs. Willers

The marriage nuptials they will share

Congratulations on a perfect union

If you ever need us we’ll be there

We’ve now a major problem

For which we’re quite perplexed

We’ve brought it on ourselves

For what shall Vikingland do next!!
