Circle K District Convention
3/29/2010 - District: Minnesota-Dakotas - Submitted by: Kacy Haatvedt

What do you get when you combine service, leadership and fellowship, with a bombdigity 80's theme? A very successful 2010 Minnesota-Dakotas Circle K District Convention!

In early March, over forty Circle K members, representing all nine clubs of the Minn-Dak district attended DCON at Ruttgers' Sugar Lake Lodge in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Circle K members attended workshops, participated in service projects, played broom ball, and celebrated at the Extravaganza event! “DCON gave me the chance to meet many amazing people, learn more about Circle K, get ideas to bring back to my club, and grow as a club president – all while having a blast!” said Theresa Ell from the University of Mary Circle K club. Brooke O'Bryan from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology agreed, saying that “It was really cool to be able to network with other Circle K-ers that were working towards the same goal as my club is.”

In Circle K, District Convention signifies the end of the Circle K year and the beginning of a new one. Clubs celebrated their successes by applying for club achievement and outstanding leadership awards prior to District Convention. Winona State Circle K and the Minnesota State University Mankato Circle K clubs almost swept the board and brought home the most awards! Clubs also were able to participate in the House of Delegates and make important decisions about the future of the district. Delegates passed amendments to increase our district dues and elected a full board of district officers for the 2010-2011 year!

Closing Session brought about the retirement of a phenomenal 2009-2010 district board and the installation of a promising 2010-2011 one! This board is already busy planning for an exciting new Circle K year and district convention attendees already can't wait for DCON 2011!
