May was Kiwanis Membership Month. So, what did your club do to promote membership? What also happens at the end of May through the middle of June? College Graduation. If your Kiwanis club sponsors a Circle K Club, do you know where your graduates are going? Are they staying in the area? Or are they moving into another community that has a Kiwanis club? Another question for you, has your club ever run a Membership Campaign calling for all Key Club and Circle K Alumni in your community? Oh, wait I have one more question, if your Kiwanis club sponsors a Aktion Club, K-Kids, Builders Club, Key Club or Circle K Club have you ever invited the parents of these members to a Kiwanis meeting to share with them what Kiwanis is and what their children are learning and doing when they are involved in our programs?
You are probably thinking right now, well why wasn't this in May's Minnkotan? I did this on purpose. You see it is my belief that membership recruitment is NOT just a membership committee thing, or a board thing or just a membership campaign thing. Membership recruitment is a never-ending journey, it IS AN EVERY DAY, EVERY MEMBER THING!
People can not NOT be impressed with the impact Kiwanis makes with our sponsored youth programs. There is no other organization that can form our leaders of tomorrow like Kiwanis can. The last question, what kind of impact would there be in our district and with our sponsored youth programs if every member in every club invited ONE person to join Kiwanis? Think of the youth and invite someone to a Kiwanis meeting.
In the Spirit of Service and Youth...
